These are the most frequently asked questions about the Escape Experience.

What is an escape room?2023-04-23T00:16:09-04:00

Escape rooms are 60-minute team-building exercises designed to immerse you in a grand adventure while also challenging your wits, all while having tons of fun with friends! The basic premise is that you and your group will be locked in a themed room for one hour, and must complete an objective (usually by escaping a room) in order to win.

To achieve this, you and your group will face various obstacles in the room such as locks or puzzles which you will need to solve in order to progress. This will not be such an easy feat, however – you will need to engage and work together with your senses and common knowledge in order to discover hints and clues hidden around the room to aid in your escape, all while feeling like an epic hero in a suspenseful yet action-packed feature film!

What is Escape Experience?2023-04-23T00:52:22-04:00

Escape Experience is a family-owned escape room company with two convenient locations in Tennessee: Downtown Nashville and Chattanooga. Our escape rooms are carefully crafted to provide an unforgettable experience, and are designed and built in-house with a keen attention to detail. We offer a range of thrilling themes, including escaping from being falsely accused in a maximum security prison (Shawshank-style!), discovering the only cure for a deadly disease in a remote cabin in the woods, and solving the mystery of your estranged uncle’s disappearance in his grand mansion’s study. Also, you can rest easy knowing that our friendly and dedicated game hosts are committed to ensuring that your experience is tailored to meet your needs and exceed your expectations from the moment you walk in the door.

Whether you’re looking for a fun night out with family and friends or a unique team-building activity for your company, it’s hard to go wrong with us because we don’t just make escape room games – we make Escape Experiences that last a lifetime!

What is the maximum number that can be in one experience?2023-04-22T22:54:36-04:00

The maximum capacity we normally allow in a single experience is 8. If you wish to bring more (up to a limit of 10), then please call (615)891-7929 ahead of time to ensure we can accommodate or offer alternatives.

Can one person attempt a room alone?2023-04-22T22:57:56-04:00

While we encourage solo players to play our experiences, doing a room on your own within the time limit is extremely difficult – but it is possible if you have a lot of experience with escape rooms. Attempting to beat the odds is part of what makes Escape Experience fun and exciting! However, do bear in mind that our experiences are designed to have multiple people participating.

What is the recommended group size?2023-04-22T23:13:31-04:00

There isn’t really a right or wrong answer here – a recommended group size really depends on the experience level of the participants and/or what you are looking to achieve or get out of the experience. Played lots of rooms before? Give your group a challenge by playing as a duo or trio. First timers? You might feel a bit unprepared at first, so having extra sets of eyes, hands, and ears certainly wouldn’t hurt. At the end of the day, just bring however many friends you think you’ll have the most fun with, and enjoy the time together!

(If you really want to maximize your chances of escaping though, we have seen that groups of 4-5 participants are more likely to escape on average!)

How much does this cost?2019-12-03T14:46:52-05:00

Each of our public experiences is priced at $32 per person before tax. We also offer private experiences at a premium rate. The base cost of a private experience is $128 plus $16 per person, before tax.

What is your cancellation/refund policy?2023-04-22T23:57:00-04:00

Our experiences are non-refundable. If you will be unable to attend your booking, please contact us at least 24 hours before your event to reschedule or receive a store voucher.

Do you offer any discounts?2023-04-22T23:54:31-04:00

We offer a variety of discounts throughout the year, often based around holidays and special events. To learn about any current offers, follow Escape Experience Nashville on TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat!

Do I have to make a reservation?2023-04-22T23:53:30-04:00

Making a reservation is strongly encouraged. Booking an experience online is the only way we can guarantee that you will get the time and experience you want. There is always a chance that you will be able to participate in one of our experiences if you walk in without a reservation, but we can only accommodate you if there are available spots in an experience. Online reservations are always given priority, and we almost never have cancellations, but contact us and we will do our best to try and accommodate your needs.

How do I book an experience?2023-04-22T23:51:14-04:00

Visit to view our available games and start times.

The date or time I want to book does not exist on your schedule. What can I do?2023-04-22T23:47:42-04:00

This could be due to either that experience’s game time not having enough spots available for your group, or the game isn’t set to start with our normal schedule at that time. If you need to book an experience for a different time than what is available, you can give us a call at (615) 891-7929. We will do our best to try and accommodate your scheduling needs.

What happens if I do not book all of the available spots?2023-04-22T23:41:35-04:00

If you do not book all 8 available spots, the left over spots remain open to the public and the potential exists for other participants that you may not know to join your experience. This situation typically results in a unique experience for everyone where you get to meet, engage, and work together with new and diverse people in ways you might not otherwise have the opportunity to do. We encourage the making of new friends, and observe it happening often. There is no faster way to break the ice with strangers than to get locked up in a situation that requires everyone to work together – and fast!

Can I guarantee that there won’t be strangers in the room?2023-04-22T23:38:46-04:00

In order for you to guarantee that only your group will be playing a room, you must either book all 8 spots of a Shared experience, or opt for the Private option during checkout. Any spots that you do not cover with the experience will be available to the public and could potentially be reserved by others.

Note: Private bookings are charged differently compared to Shared bookings. While Shared bookings are $32/player before tax, Private bookings are $16/per player on top of a $128 flat rate for the experience.

Can we bring food or drink into the rooms?2017-04-10T11:44:55-04:00

We ask that no food or drink be taken into our experiences, and alcohol is strictly prohibited on our premises.

What should I wear?2017-04-10T11:44:29-04:00

Almost any attire is fine. We recommend shoes you are comfortable standing in for up to an hour. You will have the opportunity to sit down in the experience if you need to, but to get the best experience, you will need to be moving around the room and standing most of the time. Our experiences may also require you to bend over and/or maneuver through spaces slightly smaller than a doorway, so wear clothing that will allow you to maneuver easily.

Can we bring our phones inside the scenario with us?2023-04-22T22:19:34-04:00

Yes, but you will not be allowed to take any pictures or videos of anything inside the room. You are welcome to use your phone as a tool (a calculator, flashlight, etc.), but it will not be necessary to your escape (The Inheritance is the only game with an exception to this).

Should I bring anything?2017-04-10T11:43:38-04:00

Everything you will need to escape the scenario will be provided for you inside. You are welcome to bring any items you wish into the scenario, but we do offer complimentary lockers in our lobby to secure your belongings.

Is there an age limit?2023-04-22T22:31:04-04:00

We recommend and design our scenarios for participants that are 12 years old and up. Younger participants may not completely understand all the puzzles and are more likely to have an enjoyable time with an adult present. A paying adult or legal guardian 18 or older must participate with anyone that is 14 years old or younger, and any participants under the age of 18 will need an adult to sign a waiver on their behalf.

How early should I arrive?2023-04-22T22:28:09-04:00

Please plan to arrive 15 minutes prior to your game time for check-in. Escape Experience scenarios are set to begin exactly at their start times, and being late might cause you to have less than sixty minutes to play.

What happens if we escape?2017-04-10T11:42:27-04:00

Upon escape, you will take a victory picture to show off to all your friends and family. You will also receive a complimentary “I ESCAPED” sticker, and you will earn the opportunity to purchase one of our t-shirts that says “I ESCAPED” on the back.

What happens if we do NOT escape?2023-04-22T22:36:29-04:00

When time runs out, your game master will enter the room and offer to guide you through the remainder of the room. We will then take a commiserative photo of your group in the lobby, and every member will receive a complimentary sticker.

How long is the game?2023-04-22T22:36:03-04:00

All of our rooms allow 60 minutes to attempt your escape. Between the time prior to each game for preparation and briefing, and the time after to debrief and take photos, plan to be here a maximum of 90 minutes.

Am I really going to be “locked” in a room?2023-04-22T22:38:16-04:00

Yes, the doors will be locked while you are inside the scenario. However, each locked door is equipped with an exit button so that if at any time you feel you need to leave the room, you may do so and rejoin when you are ready.

How much are your t-shirts?2023-04-22T22:39:08-04:00

$20 each before tax. If you escape your room, you could even get an extra $5 off as a reward!

Are your experiences wheelchair accessible?2023-04-22T22:41:43-04:00

Yes, all of our scenarios are wheelchair accessible either naturally or via a workaround. However, please give us a call at (615) 891-7929 to discuss which experience is best for your particular situation.

What are your hours of operation?2023-04-22T22:43:45-04:00

Monday through Saturday (9:00 AM to 11:00 PM), and Sunday (12:00 PM to 10:00 PM). You can also see specific start times for each experience by clicking the “Book Now” button on the website and choosing a time that works best for you. Additionally, it is possible to open our experience at a time not normally available, but you will need to contact us directly to coordinate this.

Where are you located?2023-04-22T22:44:37-04:00

We are located in Downtown Nashville across TPAC, at the corner of 5th and Union St. Our address is 501 Union St, Nashville, TN 37219. Open in Google Maps.

Where do I park?2023-04-22T22:47:11-04:00

Paid street parking is available, however there is only a limited supply of street parking available out front. We recommend the Nashville Public Library Garage which is located a block away on Church Street. Otherwise, you may want to plan ahead of time to consider other alternatives.

Do I need to pay for my children?2023-04-22T23:16:35-04:00

If you are booking all 8 spots in a public experience or using the “private event” option when booking online, you will not be required to pay for additional participants that are under 5 years old. However, if you are booking for less than 8 spots in a public experience, you will be required to purchase a spot for every person in your group (including young children under the age of 5).

Can I bring my infant child with me?2023-04-22T23:22:20-04:00

Please contact us directly via phone or email if you are planning to bring a small child or infant with you. We do our very best to accommodate a family’s need regarding small children.

For any groups bringing a small child or infant, we recommend that they utilize the Private option when booking online. This is both to ensure the child’s safety and the integrity of the experience. Things such as small objects that could be choking hazards, situations that may be difficult to maneuver with a child in hand, as well as general actions and moments of excitement from other participants in the room have the potential to be dangerous to small children. Much of what can potentially happen inside one of our experiences is beyond our control. Therefore, if you must bring your small child or infant with you, you will need to designate someone in your group to closely monitor them at all times.
