How Our Escape Room Records Get Broken

Every escape room starts with 60 minutes on the clock. Most teams use every second. But a rare few finish with time to spare -- a lot of time. Meet the record-holders.

Every escape room starts with 60 minutes on the clock. Most teams use every second. But a rare few finish with time to spare -- a lot of time. These are the record-holders, and their stories are part of what makes Escape Experience special.

The Current Records

We track all-time fastest escapes at every location. These are not monthly bests -- they are the fastest times ever recorded since we opened our doors.

Nashville -- 501 Union Street

  • 26:20 remaining -- Fastest all-time
  • 26:28 remaining
  • 26:33 remaining

Chattanooga -- Downtown Riverfront

  • 28:48 remaining -- Fastest all-time
  • 29:18 remaining
  • 29:28 remaining

That Nashville record -- 26:20 remaining -- means a team solved an entire 60-minute room in under 34 minutes. Think about that. Most teams are still orienting themselves at the 34-minute mark.

What Record-Breaking Teams Do Differently

After watching thousands of groups play through our rooms, patterns emerge. The fastest teams are not always the smartest -- but they are always the most organized.

They Divide and Conquer Immediately

Record-setting teams do not huddle around one puzzle. The moment they enter, they spread out. One person works the locks. Another reads every piece of text. Someone else inventories every object in the room. They cover more ground in the first five minutes than most teams do in fifteen.

They Communicate Constantly

The fastest teams talk nonstop. "I found a four-digit code!" "There is a lock over here that needs four digits!" They do not wait to share discoveries -- they broadcast everything in real time. If you are the quiet type, the record board is not for you.

They Do Not Overthink It

This is the big one. Slow teams see a simple lock and assume it must be more complicated than it looks. Fast teams try the obvious answer first. Our puzzles are designed to be solvable, not to trick you. The answer is usually right in front of you -- if you are looking.

They Ask for Clues Early

This surprises people, but record-holders use their clues strategically. Getting stuck on one puzzle for ten minutes does not prove anything. A well-timed clue keeps momentum going, and momentum is everything in a speed run.

They Have Played Before

Almost every record-holder is an experienced escape room player. Not necessarily at our rooms -- but they understand how escape rooms work. They know to check under things, look for patterns, and test every combination. First-timers? Check out our tips for your first escape room and come back ready.

The Record Board

At our Chattanooga Downtown Riverfront location, we keep a hand-drawn chalkboard in the lobby tracking monthly records, completion rates, and all-time fastest escapes. It has become one of the most photographed things in our venue -- teams love seeing their name up there, and future players love having a target to beat.

We are working on adding photos of record-holders to the board. If you set a record, we want your team photo on display.

Can You Beat These Times?

Every record on our Escape Records page was set by a team just like yours. They booked a room, showed up with sharp minds and good communication, and walked out with bragging rights.

Here is what we would suggest if you are gunning for the board:

  1. Pick your best team. Bring 4-6 people you work well with. Too many players creates confusion.
  2. Play a warm-up room first. Do one room to get in the zone, then attempt your record run.
  3. Assign roles. One person manages found items. One person works locks. Everyone else searches and solves.
  4. Use clues wisely. Do not burn 10 minutes on one puzzle when a clue could save you eight.
  5. Have fun. The teams that set records are always having the best time. Stress kills speed.
