Escape Games in Nashville: Your Complete Guide to Puzzle Adventures Downtown
Looking for escape games in Nashville? Discover why locals and visitors alike choose Escape Experience for the best escape game experience downtown — steps from Broadway, 7 days a week.

Nashville has no shortage of things to do. Broadway honky-tonks, rooftop bars, live music on every corner. But if you're looking for something that goes beyond the usual tourist checklist — something your whole group will actually talk about for years — escape games are worth your time. And Nashville has some of the best.
What Is an Escape Game?
An escape game (also called an escape room) is a timed, team-based puzzle experience. Your group is placed inside a fully themed environment — think Cold War bunkers, prison breaks, or high-stakes heists — and given 60 minutes to solve puzzles, uncover clues, and "escape" before time runs out. A game master monitors your progress and can offer hints if you get stuck.
They're designed for groups of 2 to 8, and they're genuinely fun regardless of whether you escape. The puzzle-solving, the collaboration under pressure, and the shared experience are the point. Escaping is just the bonus.
Not sure about the "escape game" vs "escape room" terminology? We've got a full breakdown here — but the short answer is they're the same thing.
Escape Games in Nashville: What to Know Before You Book
The Nashville Escape Game Scene
Nashville's escape game market is dominated by two major players: The Escape Game (a national chain with three Nashville locations, originally founded here on Broadway) and Escape Experience (locally owned, operating since 2014). There are a few smaller venues as well, but most of the volume flows through these two.
The Escape Game's brand presence in Nashville is why locals often say "escape game" rather than "escape room" — the name stuck as the generic term for the activity. If you've heard someone say "let's go do an escape game," they might not even be referring to The Escape Game specifically. It's just what Nashville calls them now.
What Makes Escape Experience Different
Escape Experience Nashville is located at 501 Union Street, in the heart of downtown — less than two blocks north of Broadway and a short walk from most major hotels. We offer four distinct escape game experiences, each built with full production sets, layered puzzles, and original storytelling.
Nashville Escape Games at Escape Experience
We run four escape games out of our Nashville location, each with a completely different theme and difficulty level:
C-Block Prison Break
You've been wrongly imprisoned. You have one hour before the guards' shift changes to break out of C-Block and clear your name. This is our most-played escape game in Nashville — high-energy, puzzle-rich, and built around an elaborate prison environment with multiple stages. Best for groups who want a classic, high-intensity experience.
The Inheritance
Your eccentric uncle has passed away, leaving behind a mysterious estate — and a will that can only be claimed if you can solve the secrets he buried within his study. Equal parts investigation and puzzle-solving, The Inheritance rewards teams who pay attention to details. A great choice for first-timers and veteran players alike.
The Bunker
You're new recruits at a classified nuclear facility. The officers are gone. The automated launch sequence has activated. You have 60 minutes to stop a nuclear disaster and escape through the fallout shelter before radiation levels become fatal. Our most immersive Nashville escape game — six stages, military-grade props, and a finale that leaves groups speechless.
Virtual Escape Games
Can't make it downtown? We pioneered live-hosted virtual escape games in March 2020 — the first company in the industry to do it. Our virtual escape game experiences are live-hosted from Chattanooga, available for groups anywhere in the world, and priced at $250 per room for up to 10 players. Perfect for remote teams, long-distance friend groups, or anyone who wants the experience without the travel.
Who Are Nashville Escape Games For?
The short answer: almost everyone. Here's how different groups typically use them:
Date Night
Escape games consistently rank as one of the best date night activities in Nashville. They're interactive, low-pressure, and genuinely fun — none of the awkward sitting across a table trying to make conversation. You're collaborating, laughing, and problem-solving together from minute one. Most couples say it's one of the most memorable dates they've had.
Corporate Team Building
Nashville companies use escape games for team building events because they create real collaboration in a way that traditional corporate activities simply don't. Your team has to communicate, delegate, and adapt under pressure — skills that transfer directly back to the workplace. We can accommodate groups of 20 to 80+ by running multiple rooms simultaneously with coordinated timing.
Birthday Parties & Celebrations
Escape games make a great framework for birthday celebrations, bachelorette parties, and group outings. Book a room (or two), grab dinner nearby on Broadway afterward, and you've got a complete Nashville evening. We're dog-friendly for smaller groups and can accommodate parties with advance notice.
Tourist Groups & Visitors
If you're visiting Nashville and want a break from the Broadway bar crawl, escape games offer something completely different. One hour, fully immersive, and a shared story to carry home. Most visitors tell us it's the highlight of their trip.
Family Fun
Our Nashville escape games are appropriate for most ages. Families with kids 10+ typically do great — younger children may struggle with some puzzles, but enthusiastic groups of mixed ages often perform surprisingly well. We recommend The Inheritance for families as a starting point.

What's the difference between an escape game and an escape room in Nashville?
Nothing — they're the same activity. Nashville locals tend to say "escape game" because of The Escape Game brand's local origins, but the terms are completely interchangeable. You'll find both used throughout the city.
How many people can play at Escape Experience Nashville?
Our rooms accommodate 2–8 players. For corporate events and larger groups, we run multiple rooms simultaneously and can accommodate 20 to 80+ participants with advance booking.
Are escape games in Nashville appropriate for kids?
Yes — our Nashville escape games are not horror-themed. They're challenging and immersive, but appropriate for most ages. We recommend children be at least 10 years old to fully participate in the puzzles.
Do I need to know anything before playing my first escape game?
No prior experience needed. Your game master will explain everything before you start. For extra prep, check out our first-timer's guide to escape rooms.
