Why an Escape Room Is the Best Date Night in Chattanooga
Dinner and a movie is fine. But solving puzzles together while the clock ticks down? That's a date night you'll actually remember.

Escape Experience
Let's be honest — how many dinner-and-a-movie dates do you actually remember? They blend together. But you know what you'll remember six months from now? The time you and your partner cracked a code, found a hidden compartment, and escaped a room with two minutes to spare.
An escape room is the best date night you haven't tried yet. Here's why.
You'll Actually Talk to Each Other
No staring at a screen. No awkward silences over appetizers. In an escape room, you're working together from the moment the door closes. You'll learn how your date thinks, how they handle pressure, and whether they're the type to ask for hints or stubbornly power through. (Both are valid.)
It's Not Expensive
At $35 per person, an escape room costs less than most nice dinners — and it's a full hour of entertainment. Pair it with dinner at one of the restaurants below and you've got a complete evening for well under $150.
It Works for Any Stage of Dating
First date? An escape room breaks the ice faster than any coffee shop. You'll have a shared experience to talk about all night.
Long-term couple? You'll see a side of each other you don't get during Netflix and takeout. Plus, there's something about high-fiving after solving a tough puzzle that brings you closer together.
The Location Can't Be Beat
Escape Experience Downtown Riverfront is at 224 Broad Street — steps from the Tennessee Aquarium, the Walnut Street Bridge, and dozens of restaurants. Book a 6:00 or 7:00 PM game, then walk to dinner. The whole evening flows.
Before Your Escape — Coffee or a Pre-Game Drink
Arrive early and start the date right:
- Trail Town Coffee — Right across the street from our escape room. Grab a coffee before your game without even crossing a parking lot. The closest caffeine to your escape.
- Rembrandt's Coffee House — A charming European-style café in the Bluff View Art District, perched above the Tennessee River. One of the most romantic coffee spots in the South.
- Mean Mug Coffeehouse — Locally roasted coffee and cinnamon rolls the size of your head. Casual and cozy.
- Milk & Honey — Coffee, brunch, and gelato. Yes, you can have coffee gelato before an escape room.
After Your Escape — Dinner Within Walking Distance
You just escaped (or didn't — either way, you've earned this). These are all a short walk from 224 Broad Street:
- Riverport Grill — Literally next door to our escape room (we share a wall). Walk out of your escape and into dinner — you can't get more convenient than that. Great burgers, steaks, and a full bar.
- Alleia — Handcrafted Italian using local ingredients. Intimate and romantic — one of Chattanooga's best date night restaurants.
- Public House — Farm-to-table Southern cuisine in a casually elegant downtown space. Great cocktails too.
- Hennen's — Upscale steakhouse on Chestnut Street with an award-winning wine list. Perfect for a special occasion date.
- STIR — Creative cocktails and shareable plates in a stylish setting. Great if you want drinks and small bites instead of a full dinner.
Dessert — You Escaped, You Deserve It
Reward yourselves with something sweet before heading home:
- Clumpies Ice Cream Co. — Chattanooga's beloved ice cream shop. Incredible seasonal flavors and sky-high scoops. The blueberry white chocolate is worth the walk.
- The Hot Chocolatier — Artisanal truffles, hot drinking chocolate, and pastries made fresh daily. Watch them craft everything in the open kitchen. You can dip anything in chocolate here — anything.
- Milk & Honey — If you didn't stop here for coffee before the escape, come back for the gelato. Coffee gelato as a post-escape reward is a move.
End the Night — A Walk on the Walnut Street Bridge
The Walnut Street Bridge is one of the longest pedestrian bridges in the world, and it's right around the corner. Walk across it after dinner for views of the river and Lookout Mountain lit up at night. It's free, it's beautiful, and it's the perfect way to end a Chattanooga date night.
Which Room Should You Pick?
- The Inheritance — Our most popular room for couples. It's mysterious, atmospheric, and the puzzles reward teamwork between two people.
- The Bunker — If you both love intensity. This one gets the adrenaline going.
- C-Block Prison Break — A classic escape with great variety. Perfect if it's your first room together.
