Things to Do in Nashville Over Thanksgiving Weekend (2026 Guide)
The relatives are in town and the leftovers are in the fridge. Here is a day-by-day plan for Thanksgiving weekend 2026 in Nashville: a family escape room downtown, holiday lights, Friendsgiving ideas and what's open.
Escape Experience Team
Escape Experience
Quick answer: Thanksgiving 2026 is Thursday, November 26. If your house is full and everyone is getting restless, the easiest outing in Nashville is a private escape room downtown at 501 Union Street, a five-minute walk from Broadway. Grandparents, teens and the cousin who never puts down his phone all play together for 60 minutes. Games are $34.99 per person, 2 to 8 players per room, and we're open all four days from Wednesday through Saturday, with limited holiday hours on Thanksgiving Day itself. Black Friday and Saturday afternoons tend to go first, so book once you know your headcount.
Thanksgiving weekend runs on a strange schedule. There's one huge meal, a lot of sitting, and three more days of "so what should we do today?" Half the family wants to shop and half wants to nap. Somebody always suggests a movie nobody agrees on.
This guide is the fix. It covers what to do each day of the long weekend in Nashville, which of our rooms fits which part of the family, how to turn a big group into a friendly competition, and the holiday events worth pairing with your game. Thanksgiving Weekend 2026 at a Glance
- Wednesday, Nov 25: Travel day. Arriving early? A late-evening game is a good way to shake off the drive. Games starting after 9 PM qualify for the NIGHTOWL discount.
- Thursday, Nov 26 (Thanksgiving): We're open with limited holiday hours, and slots go fast. Check live times and book ahead. A game before the meal gets everyone out of the kitchen while the turkey roasts, or play after dinner instead of a third slice of pie.
- Friday, Nov 27 (Black Friday): The busiest day of the weekend downtown. Shop in the morning, play in the afternoon, and finish with dinner nearby.
- Saturday, Nov 28: The best day for a big family game or a cousins-versus-cousins rematch. Book ahead.
- Sunday, Nov 29: Recovery day. A good morning for a slow brunch before everyone drives home.
Why an Escape Room Works for a Holiday Houseful
- Every age plays together. Puzzles need readers, searchers, organizers and people who notice the odd detail on the wall. Grandma is often the one who cracks the code.
- Nobody stares at a screen. For one hour the phones go in pockets and the whole family works on the same problem.
- It fits between meals. Sixty minutes in the room plus a few minutes for photos. You're back home before the leftovers come out.
- It's private if you want it to be. Book the whole room and your family never shares a game with strangers.
Which Nashville Room Fits Your Family?
The Inheritance: for the puzzle lovers
The Inheritance puts you in your late uncle's study, searching for the fortune he hid before he died. It's our hardest room at 8.5 out of 10, which makes it perfect for the family that does the crossword every morning. Ages 10 and up.
C-Block Prison Break: for mixed ages and first-timers
In C-Block Prison Break, you have one hour to break out before the guard's shift ends. It's fast, energetic and easy to get into, which makes it a strong first escape room for kids 10 and up and for relatives who have never tried one. Read our first-timer tips before you go.
Vaccine: for teens and adults
Vaccine: Search for the Cure is our most atmospheric game: a dim, eerie farmhouse and a lab where you have to find the cure before time runs out. It's tense but has no live actors and no jump scares. We recommend it for ages 13 and up.

Big Family? Make It a Head-to-Head
Our Nashville venue has four rooms and fits up to 32 players at once. That opens up the best Thanksgiving tradition you haven't started yet: a family rivalry. The twin cells of C-Block Head-to-Head are identical rooms on the same clock, so two teams of up to 8 race to escape first.
- Your side of the family vs. their side
- Parents vs. kids (the kids usually win)
- The cousins who grew up in Nashville vs. the ones who flew in
The losing team clears the table. More on how it works in our head-to-head escape room guide.
Friendsgiving in Nashville
If you're celebrating with friends instead of family, Friendsgiving usually lands on the two weekends before Thanksgiving: November 14–15 and November 21–22 this year. Skip the dishes and book a room before dinner. Groups of 4 to 8 friends fit a single room, and bigger friend groups can split up and race.
Family Who Can't Make the Trip?
Not everyone gets home for Thanksgiving. Our live-hosted virtual escape rooms let a sister in Denver and a grandson at college play the same game as the family at the table, with a real game host guiding the hour over video. A virtual room is $250 for up to 10 players, and it works from a laptop on the kitchen counter.
Build the Rest of Your Weekend
- Christmas at Gaylord Opryland: the resort's holiday season opens in early November and runs into early January, with millions of lights inside the glass atriums. It's indoors and walkable, so it works in any weather.
- Cheekwood Holiday LIGHTS: opens November 20, 2026 and runs through January 3, 2027. Note that Cheekwood is closed Thanksgiving Day and night, so plan it for Friday or Saturday and buy timed tickets ahead.
- Heads-up: Nashville Zoo has canceled Zoolumination for 2026, so don't build your weekend around it.
- Eat downtown: Puckett's is right around the corner on Church Street, and Assembly Food Hall at Fifth and Broadway has dozens of options for picky eaters.
- Park once: the Nashville City Center garage is next door to us, and the Public Square Garage is a short walk.

How to Save
- EARLYBIRD and NIGHTOWL: Monday through Thursday games before 11 AM or after 9 PM are 15% off with a promo code. That covers the start of Thanksgiving week and Thursday itself.
- Gift cards for the holidays: Thanksgiving weekend is when the holiday shopping starts. Escape Experience gift cards make an easy gift for the family that already has everything. Watch for our Black Friday gift card deal.
Thanksgiving Weekend FAQs
Is Escape Experience Nashville open on Thanksgiving Day?
Yes. We're open on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 26, 2026, with limited holiday hours, plus regular hours Wednesday, Black Friday and Saturday. Thanksgiving slots are limited, so check live times on the Nashville booking page or call 615-891-7929 before you plan around a specific time.
Is an escape room good for a family with grandparents and kids?
Yes. Puzzles need readers, searchers and people who notice small details, so every age has a job and nobody has to be fast or athletic. We recommend C-Block Prison Break and The Inheritance for ages 10 and up, and Vaccine for ages 13 and up because of its darker theme.
How much does an escape room cost in Nashville?
Games are $34.99 per person for 60 minutes, with 2 to 8 players per room. A private room for up to 8 is about $280 before tax. Monday through Thursday games before 11 AM or after 9 PM are 15% off with the EARLYBIRD or NIGHTOWL promo code.
How many people can play at once over Thanksgiving?
Our Nashville venue has four rooms, so up to 32 people can play at the same time. Big families can split into teams and race each other in the two identical C-Block Prison Break cells, then compare times.
Can relatives who can't travel join in?
Yes. Our live-hosted virtual escape rooms let family members play from anywhere over video with a real game host. A virtual room is $250 for up to 10 players.
